A little village with a lot going for it!

Today Longframlington is going through a very interesting time in its history. Where other villages seem to be 'dying' with shop closures etc.. Longframlington seems to be going through a bit of a boom at the moment. Within the last few years our corner shop, David Carr's general dealers, has won Best Rural Retailer Award 2006. this meant a visit to a Buckingham Palace garden party for David. It's not confirmed but we wouldn't be suprised if David actually did the catering that day!

David is almost a legend in the village (so he says) and his shop sells a great range of everyday and 'deli' goods. Cheeses, lovely soft buns, (you might call them baps) and a good range of beers and wines. Try the Northumbrian Nettle cheese, not as prickly as it sounds! If you like running have a word with David - you would be welcome to join in with the Fram runners who meet twice a week.

If you feel like a cappuccino or delicious hot chocolate and a slice of homemade cake, our recently opened Village Coffee Shop will oblige serving lovely homemade food using organic ingredients produced at their own farm at the North end of the village.

Next door, again a fairly recent addition to the village is the Paper Shop which serves, well...... papers (and other paper shop type stuff of course.)

Across the road is The Village Inn, formerly The New Inn. A good selection of beers and very good food is served here. You may want to visit on a Monday where there is a pub quiz kicking off at 9.00pm or the weekend where there is often live entertainment. They also serve a Goan menu and takeaway and actually sent the chef across to India to learn some tips and secrets.

Just a few yards up the road we find R.Green & Son family butchers. Excellent meats, everything you would need already prepared for a barbeque and probably the best banter around. The staff are very friendly and will be only too pleased to have a chat.

Next door is The Granby Inn where again good food and beers are served (Steak Pie's nice) in a relaxed atmosphere - both bar meals and a bookable restaurant are available.

Further up the road is Embleton Hall, a small family run country house standing in its own grounds where you can sit down for a silver service meal. They also serve bar meals.

It's a great place to live - we hope you enjoy it!
